Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark where he was graduated in the year 1995. In addition to his role in the drama series that was released globally under the name The Killing, he subsequently played in two other internationally popular Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also had a prominent role in the BBC drama Sherlock, playing blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He was the Russian president in the American television show House of Cards. He received an International Emmy Award in 2018 to honor his role in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. This series was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. He has stated that his brother and he first began to learn English through studying and listening to the Monty Python songs.
